Frequently Asked Questions
HD clamp vs V-band for downpipe connections?
V-band is lighter and quicker to remove, but requires welded flanges. An HD clamp connects two existing pipes without welded collars, making it ideal for slip-fit sections of exhaust, turbo-back connects, or budget builds where machined flanges aren't required.
What's the torque spec?
Torque to 18–22 Nm (160–195 in-lb) in two passes — snug first, then final torque. Re-torque after first heat cycle as the aluminised or stainless sleeve will seat into the pipe surface.
Aluminised vs 304 stainless?
Aluminised steel clamps are cost-effective for applications under 650°C — adequate for most street exhaust use. 304 stainless is required for turbine outlets, wastegates, and any section that sees sustained high temperatures or corrosive conditions.
