Frequently Asked Questions
Do V-band kits need a gasket?
No. The male/female tapered sealing faces create a gas-tight joint without a gasket when the clamp is torqued to 8–10 Nm. A graphite rope seal is optional above 50 PSI.
Can I weld the flanges to tubing?
Yes. Both flanges have a straight weld prep end. The 304 stainless flanges weld with ER308L filler (TIG) or ER70S-6 (if welding to mild steel). The Inconel flanges require Inconel 625 or ERNiCrMo-3 filler — no exceptions.
When should I choose Inconel V-band kits?
Inconel is required on turbo discharge connections and wastegate applications where sustained gas temperatures exceed 900°C — typically any build making over 700 WHP on a single turbo, compound setups, or diesel drag engines.
